Welcome to 'Teignmouth Together' and to Teignmouth Community Development Trust
This Teignmouth Together website gives you the infomation you ought to know about regeneration activities in the South Devon coastal resort of Teignmouth. Community inspired regeneration is co-ordinated by Teignmouth Community Development Trust (TCDT), a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity.
Put simply, regeneration is about making Teignmouth a better place in which to live, train, learn, work, do business, invest and enjoy leisure.
TCDT is affiliated to the Market & Coastal Towns Association and works in partnership with a host of local voluntary, business, leisure and community organisations as well as Teignmouth Town Council, Teignbridge District Council, Devon County Council, Devon Towns Forum, the South Western Regional Development Agency, Teign Estuary Partnership and many others.
The stated intention of TCDT's Trustees is not to compete with existing local organisations but to bring influence to bear in order to eliminate fragmentation of efforts to achieve similar objectives and to do so within a coherent town strategy. At present, therefore, the Trust has no assets save those of the determination, vigour and varied skills of its cohorts of supporters and workers. It does, however, have the support of a team of Community Agents which provides necessary clerical and administrative services under a contract agreed with a very successful local community organisation.
The town's Strategic Acion Plan (SAP) was published in September 2005 after many months of in-depth community consultation. It contains over fifty projects of varying purpose, size and inventiveness. Some achievements have already been made. Others remain in the pipeline. We hope that you enjoy what you find elsewhere on this site.
